2-Gen Empowered Parents

The 2-Gen Empowered Parents program seeks to meaningfully engage and develop leadership among parents in our growing Latino community. The program focuses on leadership, relationship building, and civic participation. Parents learn how to navigate the education system and advocate for their children. Through monthly workshops and activities, parents also learn about and connect with the resources offered through their children's schools and the community. Parents are able to enhance their knowledge and confidence to be active, integrated, and contributing members of society. Each year, a cohort of 10-15 parents is also selected to be Parent Leaders, where they participate in additional monthly training in skills such as effective communication, civic engagement, and public speaking. As ambassadors for UnidosNow, they volunteer at local outreach events and share resources with their friends and neighbors.

Parents are able to enhance their knowledge and confidence to be active, integrated, and contributing members of the community. This program is offered in Sarasota and Manatee counties.
